Fall Afterschool Clubs at Forest Edge - Registration Now Open!
This fall the Forest Edge PTA has teamed up with teachers and external vendors to bring you even more after school offerings! All clubs will be held Wednesday or Thursday from 3:45-4:45, and parents must either pick up, release to SACC, or approve students to walk home after (there are no late buses). Questions or to request scholarship, please email PTA at fees.aspchair@gmail.com or Stephanie Guffain, Dean of Instruction, at Saguffain@fcps.edu.

Are you in grades 3–6 and ready to take your basketball game to the next level? Come out Wednesdays & Thursdays after school for Basketball Club! Led by our new PE teacher, Mr. Jackson—a former professional player overseas and experienced high school coach—you’ll get the chance to:

Come Curious, Leave Confident! Does your child love games, challenges, and discovering new strategies? Join Ms. Naz for the After School Math Club, where learning feels like play!  This club is designed for students from Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grade and will meet Wednesdays. 
  •  Play exciting math games like Uno, Bingo, and more
  •  Build problem-solving skills for real-life situations
  •  Practice teamwork and collaboration
  •  Grow confidence while having FUN!

🎮 👾 STEM ExCel: Introduction to Game Design 👾 🎮 
Love video games? Learn to make your own! Computer Coding Club is back with Introduction to Game Design, provided by STEM ExCel on Wednesdays; $200 for 10 sessions (scholarships available).
  •  Use your creativity and problem-solving skills! 
  •  Create fun, complete and shareable games! 
  •  Learn game mechanics, player experience, art, story and scope! 
Via discussions, activities and computer work led by our instructors, students will learn how to make games from beginning to end. Calling all artists for Art Club on Wednesdays!
  •  Create with media such as acrylic paint, soft pastel, oil pastel, pencil drawings, ink, clay, plaster, and paper!
  •  Draw and paint landscape, still life, and portraits!

Hey 3rd–5th graders—are you ready to let your imagination run wild? Join Mrs. Sarah Zamfir, our school counselor, on Thursdays for an after-school adventure where YOU become the storyteller! In this club, you’ll:
  •  Play fun storytelling games
  •  Create original characters and adventures
  •  Work together to build amazing group stories
  •  Grow confidence while sharing your ideas

Players of any experience level are welcome! Longtime favorite Chess Club is returning on Thursdays, provided by DMV Chess. Cost is $112 for 10 week session, $25 financial need rate is available. Concepts covered will include:  
  •  Learn general chess strategy and tactics
  •  Perfect opening principles, endgames, and checkmating
  •  Challenge... manuever... checkmate!

Elevate your after-school experience! Join the Board Games and Pokemon Club on Thursdays to:

Whether you're rolling dice, moving pieces, or outsmarting rivals, every game offers an opportunity to grow, think, and strategize —all while having a great time! We'll have a collection of new and classic gamesand we encourage participants to bring their own games to share, or bring your Pokemon Deck for legendary battles! Play Ball! Come join OTA for our ALL games ALL the time after school program. GOtime’s exclusive game-play format features a variety of sports (Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football, etc.) and will be structured as a REAL GAME from start to finish. Loosen up, warm-up, and choose up sides, then get ready to play! Coaches will organize each game to teach kids the rules of competition, team play, and sportsmanship. We have always believed athletes get better the more they play. Here is your chance! This organized scrimmage every week will give players the opportunity to test new skills and get more comfortable in game situations. Come be a part of our TEAM!

Let’s Play! Save the best for last by finishing up the school day with Sports Spectacular, a variety athletic program that features different sports throughout the session. Participants will practice skills and play games in both traditional sports and playground favorites. The Sports Spectacular Variety Program features the best “to-do” list ever – Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football, Kickball, Capture the Flag, Wiffle Ball, Bump and Bite, Knights and Dragons, Numbers Game, Tag Games, Safe Base and MORE! OTA covers all the bases with our emphasis on playing, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fitness. Don’t miss out on the FUN!

Huddle Up and get ready for Flag Football to become an instant classic. Kids are lining up to score touchdowns and get a taste of the most popular game in the country! Players will get a chance to be running backs, wide receivers, defensive ends, and corner backs. Learn to pass, catch, run routes and punt like the pros! We'll practice these skills while playing Button Hook, Down & Out, Pitch & Run and First & Ten.
